A couple of years ago, I started The Queen City Art Swap , where artists of all skill level and media are given a theme and a deadline, and an address to send their original work to. Artists and makers from all over the world (but mostly Missouri) have participated, and it’s been a great kickstarter for a lot of people who wish to inject creativity in their day-to-day lives.
With today’s politically charged climate, I’ve witnessed a lot of letter writing from constituents to their representatives in Washington. It got me thinking. Writing letters is so fulfilling. But even more, getting a letter in the mailbox that isn’t a bill or ad is AMAZING.
It feels a bit of a lost art, and when the arts and connecting on a personal level is vital, why not spend a few extra minutes to send a letter?
Because I am ridiculous, I made another interactive swap that I was hoping you might enjoy and want to participate in. I’m calling it “Mail Bag,” and if you register, I’ll put you in a confidential database and send you random mailing addresses of other participants to mail a note to. It can be as simple or as fancy as you choose. In return, hopefully someone will be sending you mail as well!
Feel free to ask friends. The more the merrier, and it would be great to have people from all over the country participate.
